Attached: a letter written by the sculptor himself stating that this particular bronze was made in the summer of 1978, using lost-wax casting and meant as an original piece. From this bronze, a silicone negative was made, from which six numbered and signed copies were cast. This is the reason why the bronze on offer here is not signed and numbered. The attached photo shows the sculptor in his workshop, holding a wax model of a similar horse.

By Louise Admirat (1759-1829), first quarter 19th century The case decorated with a female figure sat in a bath, opposite a small child, mounted on a marble base decorated with masks and foliate scrolls, the enamel dial with Roman numerals, signed 'M.me Gentilhomme Palais Royal à Paris', the eight-day mechanism with anchor escapement, striking once on the half hour and the whole hour in full, with cord suspended pendulum.
Madame Gentilhomme is the signature of Louise Admirat, one of the few female clockmakers active in Paris at the beginning of the 19th century.
