A Chinese Ming dish for the Japanese market

Late Ming dynasty, 17th century, China

The plate decorated in underglaze blue and white with additional overglaze red and green enamels. The centre featuring chrysanthemum flowers and scrolling foliage, the rim has prunus flowers and flying birds. Marked with a six-character Chenghua mark in a double circle.

D 23.5 cm

The dish with typical manufacturing imperfections and irregularities. A firing crack in the rim that was camouflaged with green overglaze enamel. No restoration.
