A brown Swatow dish with slip decoration
Early 17th century, China
A Zhangzhou ware dish, decorated with white slip dragons on a brown ground. This dish was salvaged from a shipwreck and has a matte glaze due to exposure to sea water.

A similar dish is held in the collection of Princessehof National Museum of ceramics in Leeuwarden, the Netherlands, and illustrated on pages 140/141 of 'Ming, Porcelain for a globalized trade' by Eva Ströber, 2013 (Arnoldsche Art Publishers)
The dish slightly warped and with typical manufacturing imperfections and irregularities. No restoration.
