[BRONZES] – PLANISCIG, L. Sammlung Camillo Castiglioni. Bronzestatuetten und Geräte.

Wien, [Kunstverlag Anton Schroll & Co.], 1923, 54,[3] text-pp. With 115 hélio-engraved ills. on 105 plates. Large folio (ca. 46 x 34 cm.), orig. half-morocco with gilt-lettered ribbed spine. ¶ Privately printed in 300 Arabic numb. copies by “Offizin von Christoph Reisser’s Söhne” (text) & “Blechinger und Leykauf” (plates). The bronzes were photographed by the Austrian photographer Martin Gerlach (1879-1944) & the binding bound by “Handbuchbinderei von Albert Günther” (Vienna). Rare catalogue (only 2 copies in NCC) by the Austrian art historian Leo Planiscig (1887-1952) describing the famous collection of the Italian-Austrian banker Camillo Castiglioni (1879-1957) concerning Italian bronze sculptures & objects from the period of the classical antiquity to the beginning of the 19th century. – A few defects (top of spine partly torn, binding rubbed/worn along extremities, most plates partly waterstained in outer blank margins), but nevertheless a sumptuous book-production in an acceptable condition.
