A Pre-Columbian Chancay cuchimilco figure

Ca. 900 – 1400 AD, central Peru

Standing ceramic female figure with stylized features, painted with dark brown slip over creamy white slip with slightly rough surface. The atrophied arms raised in a gesture of incantation. Rectangular head with decorated cheeks and forehead. Flattened skull showing artificial deformation, decorated and painted with a geometric pattern. Small holes on the cap allowing a cotton cap to be attached (no longer present). Figure comes with its custom made plinth and stand.

Small chip on right foot, otherwise fully intact.
