Small folio (ca. 32,5 x 24,5 cm.), early 20th-cent. gilt red morocco (orig. wrappers pres.) by LUCIEN DURVAND & J. FAU (with their gilt stamps on upper & lower cover) with gilt coat-of-arms (of Marie Leczinska) central on both covers surrounded by gilt floral ornaments, gilt inside dentelles, marbled doublures & marbled free end-papers, gilt ribbed spine, top edge gilt.

One of 1.000 Arabic numb. copies printed on “papier a la cuve des manufactures de Rives (Blanchet frères et Kleber)”. First edition of a monograph on the French King Louis XV (1710-1774) & his mistress Marie Leczinska (1703-1768) by the French historian Pierre Girauld de Nolhac (1859-1936) bound in a beautiful book-binding by i.a. the French book-binder LUCIEN DURVAND (1852-1924). – Occ. sl. foxed/ browned (due to off-setting by the tissue-guards of the plates), but nevertheless a sumptuous book-binding in fine condition.
