A Chinese famille verte covered vase

Kangxi period, ca. 1700, China

An elongated vase with lid and decorated in famille verte enamels. A pattern of florals and birds, a relief molded border just below the neck of the vase. The sides with grotesque mythical beast, the lid and foot of the vase with cartouches holding auspicious symbols.

H 30.5 cm

Ref: 'Famille verte, Chinese porcelains in green enamels', by Christiaan J.A. Jörg, illustrated on page 50 and discussed a similar example held by the Boymans van Beuningen museum in Rotterdam.

Good condition. Glaze fritting but no hairlines and no restoration.
