A Persian Brass Astrolabe

Late 19th century, Persia

The brass mater with rim graduated 0-360° by 1° with markings every 5° , suspension shackle above, with two plates elegantly engraved on both sides each bearing stereographic projections for latitudes. The sky was drawn on a face to show the temporal relationship between the earth and the sky.
