A Dutch engraved Vlissingen armorial glass

18th century, England/Netherlands

A goblet with faceted baluster stem and domed foot, engraved with the coat of arms of the town of Vlissingen (Flushing), flanked by two rampant lions and the text ‘Twel Vaaren Van Vlissinge’ (to the success of Vlissingen).

D 8,6 cm, H 19,8 cm

Provenance: Property of the Dutch noble family Quarles van Ufford and sold at Bonhams London, 14-11-2018, as part of lot 48.

Chipped foot edge (see close-up photos). Apart from that in good condition; no other damage and no restoration.
