A Dutch burr-walnut longcase clock

Andries Vermeulen, Amsterdam, first half 18th century

The burr-walnut veneered case on bun feet, the hood with openwork decoration and crowned by gilt bronze figures, the partly silvered brass dial with Roman numerals, with separate seconds hand, indicating the day of the week, date, lunar phase, and tides, with complete alarm mechanism, signed 'And. Vermeulen Amsterdam', the eight-day mechanism with anchor escapement, striking on two bells, on the half hour and the whole hour in full.
