A Roman (Hellenistic style) fragment of a Goddess 'Hygieia'

Ca. 2nd/3rd century AD

The head from a later figure (possibly Byzantine or medieval) and crudely attached to the Roman figure. The body is that of Hygieia, Goddess in both Greek and Roman mythology, and usually shown with a snake of which a portion is still visible in this figure. Hygieia was the Goddess/personification of health, cleanliness and hygiene.
