With 2 engraved frontispieces, 3 engraved title-vignettes, 2 engraved dedications, 212 engraved views/ plates (of which 29 double-p.) by i.a. G. van der Gouwen, J. Mulder & J. van Vianen after G. Hoet, A. Houbraken & B. Picart, num. engraved head- & tail-pieces and engraved capital letters. Folio (ca. 41 x 26,5 cm.), early 18th-cent. gilt panelled mottled calf with gilt fleuron (incl. an acorn) oblique on each corner of the inner panel, gilt ribbed spine with red morocco letterpiece.

Dutch print-bible published by the Dutch book-seller Pieter de Hondt (1696-1764) sumptuously illustrated with 212 engravings designed by the Dutch artists Gerard Hoet (1648-1733) & Arnold Houbraken (1660-1719) and the French artist Bernard Picart (1673-1733). Our set printed on “Mediaan Papier” (as mentioned at foot of all title-leaves), 1 extra text-leaf (*Ddd2) in vol. I, a binder’s index-leaf (D1) in vol. I(2), a binder’s index-leaf (Ss1) in vol. II, but without a binder’s index-leaf (Oo2) in vol. I(1). – With defects (lower part of backstrip missing, top of spine & letterpiece sl. dam., upper cover partly scratched/ worn, partly waterstained/ moulded in upper part of vol. I(2) & vol. II, final binder’s index-leaf loose, occ. sl. foxed/ browned), but nevertheless in an acceptable interior condition.
