Complete set of the second enlarged & revised edition of an anonymous Dutch translation of a comprehensive dictionary & cyclopaedia (comprising ca. 4.400 text-pages) concerning all aspects of managing a mansion in the eighteenth century (i.a. agriculture, fishing, gardening, hunting, husbandry, viniculture, recipes for cooking & treatment of diseases) illustrated with engravings by the 18th-cent. Dutch print-maker Frans de Bakker. Nine supplementary vols. were published between 1786-1793. The first French edition of the “Dictionnaire Oeconomique” by Noël Chomel (1633-1712) was publ. in 1709. The first Dutch translation was publ. in 1743 in 2 vols. (cf. Waller 404). All vols. ex bibliotheca C.F.C.G. Boissevain (with his book-plate mounted on upper paste-down). Plate E not listed in the binder’s index, but the number of engravings is complete. ¶ With defects (top of spine of vol. III partly torn, letterpiece & foot of spine of vol. V dam., spine-ends of vols. VI-VII sl. dam./ chipped, bindings partly rubbed/ worn, lower corner of 1 text-leaf (Pppp4) in vol. III torn off (with loss of letters), a few engravings sl. frayed in outer margin, occ. sl. soiled/ (water-)stained, sl. foxed/ browned), but nevertheless an acceptable set.
