Philips, 2 double-p. engraved bird’s-eye plans (of which 1 fold.), 4 (of 5) double-p. engraved views (by F. van Bleyswyck & J. van der Spyk after H. de Winter) & a few engraved text-ills. Large 4to (ca. 24 x 18 cm.), 18th-cent. mottled calf, gilt ribbed spine with red morocco letterpiece, marbled edges.

First & only edition (printed on LARGE PAPER) of a topographical & historical description of Oudewater by the Dutch lawyer Gaspar Rudolph van Kinschot (1704-1748). With MANUSCRIPT ANNOTATION by the brother of the author ROELAND VAN KINSCHOT (1712-1747) in black ink on second free end-paper: “Gifte door mijn Broeder den Secretaris van Kinschot, aan mij gedaan, den 14. Oc[to]ber 1746 [signed] R. van Kinschot”. ¶ Lacks 1 engraving by I. Besoet (“De Kerk te Oudewater aan de Zuidzyde te zien”). Binding partly rubbed/ worn, spine-ends sl. dam./ chipped. Sl. foxed/ browned, but nevertheless in good condition.
