[MINIATURE BOOK] – [SONGBOOK] – ’T NIEUW GROOT HOORNS LIEDT-BOECKJE, Bestaande in veel Stichtige en Vermakelyke Bruylofts Liedekens, In desen laetsten druck t’samen gevoegt met het Alckmaerder en Enckhuyser Liedt-boeckje.

“Tot Hoorn. Gedrukt by Elbert Beukelman”, [ca. 1710], 310,[10 index] pp. With woodcut title-vignette (dep. Cupid with bow & arrow) and a few musical scores (melodies for “Verscheyde Bruylofts-Psalmen”). 32mo (ca. 7,5 x 5 cm.), early 18th-cent. gilt calf, both covers with gilt symmetrical pattern of (floral) ornaments & double gilt fillets around sides and 2 18th-cent. SILVER CLASPS & CATCHES, gilt ribbed spine, all edges gilt.

¶ Provenance: The Feeterse Collection. Scheurleer (Ned. Liedboeken) p. 185. Catalogus Muziekhistorisch Museum D.F. Scheurleer II, p. 87. Bondy (Miniature Books) p. 29. Welsh 5289. Very rare re-edition (no copies in NCC) of a popular Dutch miniature songbook (so-called “Mopsje”) bound in an attractive binding with 2 SILVER CLASPS & CATCHES (both with a hallmark depicting the coat-of-arms of ENKHUIZEN & a hallmark (depicting a dog or a hare) by an unidentified Dutch silversmith), upper clasp with engraved monogram “AMDG” of probably a previous owner). According to the preface by the Dutch printer Elbert Beukelman (active in Hoorn between 1689-1711) this edition was printed in Hoorn after the edition published by him in co-operation with the Dutch printer Feyken Rijp (active in Hoorn between 1694-1706), so it can be dated between 1706-1711. ¶ A few small defects (spine-ends sl. dam., inner hinges loosening, upper margin of leaves I1-I8 partly creased, lower blank corner of leaf L1 torn off, lower margin of leaf L5 sl. torn/ creased, occ. sl. waterstained/ soiled in outer blank margin, occ. sl. foxed/ browned), but nevertheless in an acceptable condition.
