In 1988 fifty leading international artists designed a flag for the Gran Pavese Flag Project. This made Gran Pavese the largest graphic project ever performed. Gran Pavese was a contribution to an additional attractiveness in urban environments as well as an effort to promote modern art. The fifty Gran Pavese flags were exhibited from 1988 to 1990 at the ‘Neeltje Jans’ Island in the Netherlands, the Museum of Contemporary art MuHKA in Antwerp, the Avenue Montaigne in Paris, the Rhine Quay in Frankfurt, the Chinese Wall near Beijing and the University Art Museum in Tampa, Florida.
