Complete set of 3 early 19th-cent. (hand-)col. aquatints (with Dutch & English caption) after John Christian Schetky (1778-1874). Printed by J.F. Brugman (Amsterdam) for Louis Arnoldus van den Bergh (Portsmouth, 1835). All ca. 48,5 x 69 cm., behind passepartout & uniformly framed (behind glass). (3x)

Rare complete set of 3 beautiful large-sized aquatints (dep. various sailing vessels in the harbour of Portsmouth) by the American printmaker Robert Havell Jr. who became famous for his engravings for John James Audubon’s “The Birds of America” (1827-1839). – With defects (2 aquatints with large tear in the image (expertly restored), 2 aquatints sl. waterstained in outer left part & a few moulded spots in the image, sl. foxed/ browned).
