A famille rose cockerel shape wine pot

Qianlong period, ca. 1740, China

The lid with a smaller cockerel on top acting as a finial. An old label on the base for the Sir Bernard Eckstein collection (most of the Eckstein collection was sold on November 1948 at Sotheby's in London). Provenance: The property of an old family from Wassenaar.

L 18, H 16,5 cm

Possible old restoration to the lid. Small glaze flake to edge of beak of cockerel. Otherwise in good condition. On the underside of the tail feathers an underglaze roughness, probably the fathers originally extended further but during manufaturing this happened and is under the pink glaze.
