A Flemish brass-mounted polychrome painted harpsichord
Late 19th century, in the manner of Joannes Ruckers
Decorated overall with birds, foliate scrolls, and arabesques, the hinged lid centered by a coat of arms, to the reverse a painted ideal landscape depicting peasants on a riverside, the red painted interior with inscription 'Joannes Ruckers me fecit Antwerpiae 1619', on a shaped moulded stand with eight baluster legs joined by a conforming stretcher.
193 x 95 x 79 cm
In the current state, the harpsichord is hardly playable. The strings need to be replaced and adjusted, and stops could be optionally installed.
