A Dutch oak travel writing desk, possibly Royal

Second half 19th century

The rectangular top opening to reveal a fitted black leather interior with various compartments for writing utensils, on S-shaped legs joined by a fluted stretcher.

97 x 62 x 36 cm

Provenance: According to the magazine 'Vorsten', the piece was deaccessioned by the Royal Household of Queen Emma (1858-1934). The article states that the Queen used this desk regularly in the garden, and donated the piece to her custodian upon the latter's retirement.
