Nel mezzo di questo passava l’antica Via sacra che portava i Trionf[an].ti. in Campid[ogli].o”. Etched view with caption & legend (with Italian text) below. Published by G.B. Piranesi (Rome, printed after 1759) with “Piranesi Architetto fec[it].” & “Presso l’Autore a à Strada Felice [..]” in the plate. Ca. 38 x 59 cm. Behind passepartout & framed (behind glass).

¶ Ficacci 903. Cf. Cicognara 3829. Probably a later impression of an attractive large-sized view of the Arch of Septimius Severus and the Church of Saints Luke & Martina in Rome. The first edition was published in 1759 in Piranesi’s famous print-series “Vedute di Roma” (Views of Rome). – Vague vertical fold in the middle, small waterstain in upper right part, but else in good condition (not examined out of frame).
