Complete set of the second enlarged edition (with an appendix of authentic documents & extensive indices by Abraham van Poot) by the Dutch historian Pieter Christiaensz. Bor (1559-1635). The attractive illustrations (mainly engraved by Jan Luyken, 1649-1712) dep. views of various Dutch cities (i.a. Leiden, Haarlem & Maastricht), sea-battles (i.a. "De Zeeslagh der Noordt Hollanders tegen den Graef van Bossu, [..]", ca. 27 x 34 cm. & “Het innemen van Cadix, [..]”, ca. 26 x 33 cm.) & the famous stranded whale near Scheveningen & Katwijk (engraved by Gilliam van der Gouwen, ca. 27 x 33 cm.). ¶ Mediocre set with defects (spines dam., leather over boards partly gone, sl. marg. waterstained, 1 view sl. torn/ stained in outer margin, 1 engraving loose), but nevertheless a complete set in an acceptable interior condition.
