C. van Hagen, 5 engr. plates (of which 3 double-p.) & a few engr. text-ills. Small 8vo, contemp. blindst. vellum (sl. soiled).

¶ Nijhoff/ Van Hattum 240. Bodel Nijenhuis 1045. Haitsma Mulier/ Van der Lem 375b. First edition of the only description of Katwijk aan Zee & Katwijk aan den Rijn (incl. Rijnsburg) by the Dutch minister Adriaan Pars (1641-1719). With extensive AUTOGRAPH DEDICATION (Latin text in black ink on verso second free end-paper) by the author ADRIAAN PARS to the German-Dutch theologian TACO HAJO VAN DEN HONERT (1666-1740) who was a minister in Brielle in the year of publication (1697). With an extra 20th-cent. plate (attached between pp. 222-223) dep. the device of the rhetorical chamber “De Palmboom” in Leyden. ¶ Lacks 1 engraving (“De Abdij van Leeuwenhorst in sijn Bloeijstand, voor de Verwoesting”). A few minor defects (small crack on backstrip, lower blank corner of leaf Y3 torn off, occ. sl. foxed/ browned), but else in good condition.
