¶ Eekhoff pp. 88-90. De Buck 6538. Rare first (& only) edition (printed on LARGE PAPER) of a massive & important source (comprising ca. 5.500 text-pages) for the (juridical) history of Friesland compiled & edited by the Dutch politician Georg Frederik baron Thoe Schwartzenberg en Hohenlansberg (1733-1783), but as often without the very rare supplementary vol. 6 (printed in 1795). Vol. 5 was edited by the Dutch lawyer Johann Frederik Mauritz Herbell (1752-1819). A separate index-vol. (by J. van Leeuwen) was publ. in 1857. – A few minor imperfections to the bindings (spine of vol. 1 sl. stained, top of spine of vol. 4 with small tear). Final index-leaves of vol. 1 waterstained in lower corner (partly moulded with loss of paper and/or letters, partly strengthened with tape), vols. 1-3 occ. sl. (marg.) waterstained, most leaves of vol. 5 with dam. spot (occ. with loss of letters) in upper part (partly strengthened with tape) & in lower inner margin (at foot of spine) probably due to a bombshell, occ. sl. foxed/ browned, but nevertheless a good set.
