-Collection Mr. Marius Roland Holst and Mrs. Anna de Meester. -Auction, Paul Brandt, Amsterdam, 26 March 1962, lot 56, where acquired by the family of the present owners.

¶ Beautiful drawing in Arondéus’ characteristic symbolistic style meant as design for a book-plate of the Dutch artist Annie Roland Holst-de Meester (1893-1987) and her husband Marius Roland Holst (1889-1960), brother of the Dutch poet Adriaan Roland Holst (1888-1976) with whom Arondéus was good friends. This book-plate (meas. 11,3 x 8,3 cm.) was printed around 1925. – A few small imperfections (small scratch in outer left part, tiny brown waterstain in lower part), but nevertheless in good condition.
