Jac. van den Bosch (1868 - 1948)

Ca. 1910, Dutch.

An oak wood armchair, executed by: 't Binnenhuis, Amsterdam. The armrests with vertical bars, the overall with renewed and damaged kilim upholstery. Marked at the bottom of the chair.

The coat of arms depicted on the upholstery of the back is known to be the family-crest of Mr. van Havelaar.

In this design the sloped back makes a swift line with the back legs, which is inspired by ancient Egyptian chairs as seen in the Rijksmuseum van Oudheden in Leiden.

110x66x70 cm

Provenance: Mr. van Havelaar (mentioned in the customer register of 't Binnenhuis), acquired in 1962 by the late husband of the present owner.
