Papua New Guinea.

Papuan Statue normally represented gods deities or ancestral heros. They were sometimes made free standing but are also often found as part of a larger object like the top of a house pole.

They vary in size from very small charms made to be hidden on your person to monumental sizes made to be displayed inside the ceremonial houses.

In New Guinea it is only men who are supposed to see these figures and women and uninitiated children are forbidden to go near structures containing them.
