Two Jepara wooden Raffles style armchairs

With canework back and seat, two armrests with scroll ends and on tapering legs, the two front legs fluted with ridged grooves. The 'Raffles' style is a modification from the classic Regency style and Sheraton style. The distinctive of Raffles style specification are: the ridged grooves, the turns, the simple line carvings, the curly and scroll ornaments. This style is named after Thomas Stamford Raffles (1781-1826), governor of the Dutch Indies from 1811-1816.
